Professional Congress Organizer Manager

Who is the Professional Congress Organizer Manager and what does he do?

The professional organizer of congresses is the professional who deals with every aspect related to the organization of a congress event and is therefore responsible for all the activities connected to it: from the conception phase to the realization and conclusion phase of the event itself. The PCO is often called into question for events of great importance, which can be scheduled even years before the course. He can work in large companies specialized in the organization of events and congresses but can also work in freelance or – after having gained experience and skills – open his own structure with collaborators. In addition to congresses, he can deal with corporate events, road shows, workshops, or incentive events.

The required skills

The PCO has a broad knowledge of the world of event organization and the corporate aspects of the business branch. He has working relationships with different figures (client, sponsors, press, associations) and must find the right balance to make objectives and needs coincide. He has analytical-strategic and budgeting skills: attention to costs (and possible optimization) is fundamental in his work. He is used to flexible hours, dictated by the deadlines and proximity of the event, he is oriented to interpersonal relationships and accustomed to travel.
