Who is the Event Planner and what does he do?

The Event Planner is a professional who coordinates and manages every phase of the organization of an event: from conception to implementation, passing through the bureaucratic and commercial aspects. He can take care of shows, concerts, festivals, fairs, meetings, inaugurations, corporate events, weddings, and parties of various kinds.

He does not work alone but is usually at the head of a team in which different figures converge as copywriters, art directors, set designers, choreographers, fitters, audio and lighting technicians, marketing managers, etc. The Event Planner analyzes the requests of the clients and agrees with them objectives, targets, times, and budgets for the event. He then proceeds with the conception of the event, to ensure that this is engaging and interesting for potential participants. He then defines all the technical and productive aspects necessary for the realization, also taking care of the set-up phase and logistics. If, on the other hand, we talk about events open to the public (fairs, conferences, sporting, and gastronomic events, shows, fashion shows, etc.) the Event Manager also takes care of the promotional campaign and communication and marketing activities.

The required skills

The Event Planner has project management skills, planning and management of a project, has proven skills in marketing, event communication and PR, aptitude for leadership and coordination of a working group. He has creativity and aesthetic sense, intercepts the tastes of potential customers, and transforms them into ideas that can excite and spend moments to remember.

Salary

The average salary of an Event Planner is €40,200 gross per year (about €2,030 net per month). The minimum salary for junior and entry level figures (with less than 3 years of experience) can start from € 19,000 gross per year and reach € 23,000. For middle figures (4-9 years of experience) the salary can rise to € 34,200 gross per year, while that of senior event planners (more than 10 years of experience) reaches € 60,000 – € 70,000 gross per year.
